The newest Samsung phone you can buy in the US is the Galaxy S26 FE, on sale since September 4, 2026 for $699.99 (128 GB). Europe got an even newer one, the Galaxy A18 on September 15, but it’s 4G-only and isn’t coming to the Americas. Below are Samsung’s 10 most recent launches, ordered by date, with launch price, what they cost on Amazon when there’s a deal, and how many years of updates each one gets (data as of September 30, 2026).
The criterion: release date, not quality
This list doesn’t tell you which Samsung is best. That’s what the best Samsung phones guide is for. Here the calendar decides, and two 2026 facts change how you should read it.
One: newer doesn’t mean more years of support. Samsung promises 7 years of Android and security patches for the S series, the FE and the Z foldables, and 6 years for the A series. So a Galaxy S26 Ultra from March will get updates for longer than a Galaxy A27 from July, even though it’s four months older.
Two: 2026 is the year Samsung raised prices. Almost every successor costs more than the phone it replaces, which the industry blames on rising memory costs:
| New model | US launch price | Predecessor | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 FE | $699.99 | S25 FE ($649.99) | +$50 |
| Galaxy Z Flip8 | $1,199.99 | Z Flip7 ($1,099.99) | +$100 |
| Galaxy A57 | $549.99 | A56 ($499.99) | +$50 |
| Galaxy A37 | $449.99 | A36 ($399.99) | +$50 |
The practical takeaway: last year’s model on sale is a better buy than ever, especially when it gets the same years of support.

Launch price of Samsung's newest 2026 phones (US)
The Fold8 Ultra costs six times as much as the A27, but the interesting gap is in the middle: the S26 FE is $200 cheaper than the S26 and gets the same 7 years of updates.
1. Galaxy A18 — the newest, but Europe only
Why it’s the newest: Samsung announced it on September 15, 2026 and started selling it in France. As of this article, it’s the brand’s latest phone.
Features and specs: Exynos 1610, 4 GB of RAM, 6.7” 90 Hz AMOLED display, 50 MP camera and a 5,000 mAh battery with 25 W charging. 4G only: a 5G version shows up in certification databases but isn’t official.
Why people buy it: it’s the cheapest way into a new Samsung with 6 years of updates in Europe, at €279.
Why we recommend it: only if you’re in Europe and 4G is enough. It isn’t sold in the US; the closest equivalent there is the Galaxy A17 5G, which costs $199.99 and does have 5G.
🛒 See the Galaxy A17 5G on Amazon2. Galaxy S26 FE — the newest Samsung in the US
Why it’s the newest: announced in late August and on sale September 4, 2026. It’s Samsung’s most recent US launch.
Features and specs: 3 nm Exynos 2500, 6.7” 120 Hz display, 50 MP main camera with a 12 MP ultrawide and an 8 MP 3x telephoto, 4,900 mAh battery with 45 W charging (25 W wireless). It ships with Android 17 and One UI 9.
Why people buy it: it has almost everything the S26 has for $200 less, and shipping with Android 17 means its 7-year clock starts later than any other Samsung on this list.
Why we recommend it: it’s the sweet spot of the new lineup. The catch: it’s $50 more than the S25 FE, which now sells for much less and gets the same 7 years.
🛒 Check Galaxy S26 FE price3. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra — the priciest, thinnest foldable
Why it’s the newest: unveiled at the London Unpacked on July 22, 2026 and in stores on August 7.
Features and specs: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, 8” inner and 6.5” cover displays at 120 Hz, 200 MP main camera with a 3x telephoto, 5,000 mAh. It’s 4.1 mm thick unfolded and weighs 215 g, the thinnest Fold Samsung has made.
Why people buy it: it’s the only Samsung foldable that doesn’t cut back on the camera compared with a Galaxy S Ultra.
Why we recommend it: for people who use their phone as a pocket tablet and will pay whatever it takes. At $2,099.99, it’s hard to justify outside that profile.
🛒 Check Z Fold8 Ultra price4. Galaxy Z Fold8 — the “passport” format
Why it’s the newest: same Unpacked and same on-sale date as the Ultra.
Features and specs: same chip as the Ultra, a wider 5.5” cover display (16:10 when closed), dual 50 MP cameras with no telephoto and 4,800 mAh. It’s the lightest Z Fold yet.
Why people buy it: the wider closed format works like a normal phone, something earlier Folds never managed.
Why we recommend it: Amazon already has it around $1,649.99, $250 under launch price. If you don’t need optical zoom, it’s the book-style foldable that makes the most sense.
🛒 Check Z Fold8 price5. Galaxy Z Flip8 — the clamshell, now $100 more
Why it’s the newest: also announced July 22, on sale August 7.
Features and specs: 6.9” 120 Hz inner display, 4.1” FlexWindow cover screen, 50 MP camera with a 12 MP ultrawide, 4,300 mAh battery. The chip varies by country, and sources disagree on which one the US model uses.
Why people buy it: it’s the reference compact foldable and the one that shows up most in deals: Amazon had it at $1,049.99 in late September.
Why we recommend it: it repeats the Flip7’s cameras and launched $100 higher. On sale, fine; at full price, a discounted Flip7 gives you nearly the same thing.
🛒 Check Z Flip8 price6. Galaxy A27 5G — cheap 5G with 6 years
Why it’s the newest: announced June 25 and in the US since July 14, 2026.
Features and specs: Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, 6.7” 120 Hz AMOLED display, 50 MP camera with a 5 MP ultrawide, 5,000 mAh with 25 W charging.
Why people buy it: for $349 you get 5G, a 120 Hz screen and 6 years of Android, which almost nobody offers at this price.
Why we recommend it: it’s the sensible buy if you don’t want to spend more than $400. The 5 MP ultrawide is its weak spot.
🛒 Check Galaxy A27 5G price7. Galaxy A57 5G — the slimmest mid-ranger
Why it’s the newest: announced March 25 and on sale in the US since April 9, 2026.
Features and specs: Exynos 1680, 6.7” 120 Hz AMOLED display, 50 MP camera with OIS, 12 MP ultrawide, 5,000 mAh with 45 W charging.
Why people buy it: it’s the most complete Galaxy A, with a new chip and a thinner body than the A56.
Why we recommend it: at launch price ($549.99) it runs into a discounted S26 FE. On sale, around the $449.99 Amazon listed in mid-September, it’s worth it.
🛒 Check Galaxy A57 5G price8. Galaxy A37 5G — 45 W on a 2024 chip
Why it’s the newest: same announcement and on-sale date as the A57.
Features and specs: Exynos 1480 (the A55’s chip), 6.7” 120 Hz display at 1,900 nits, 50 MP camera with OIS, 5,000 mAh with 45 W charging.
Why people buy it: it gets the A57’s fast charging and stabilized camera for $100 less.
Why we recommend it: with a caveat. It’s a 2026 phone with a 2024 chip, and 6 years of support on an older processor show more in the final years.
🛒 Check Galaxy A37 5G price9. Galaxy S26 Ultra — the year’s most complete phone
Why it’s on the list: announced February 25 and on sale March 11, 2026. It’s more than six months old but still tops the S series.
Features and specs: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, 6.9” QHD+ display, 200 MP camera with dual telephoto, S Pen, privacy display and 5,000 mAh with 60 W charging (75% in 30 minutes, per Samsung).
Why people buy it: camera, S Pen and 7 years of support in one device.
Why we recommend it: it launched at $1,299.99 and Amazon deals now put it between $953 and $1,050. At that price it’s a better buy than any foldable on this list.
🛒 Check Galaxy S26 Ultra price10. Galaxy S26 and S26+ — 2026’s first launches
Why they’re on the list: they’re the year’s oldest launches (same date as the Ultra) and remain on sale with no replacement: the S27 series isn’t expected until early 2027.
Features and specs: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US (Exynos 2600 elsewhere), 6.3” FHD+ on the S26 and 6.7” QHD+ on the S26+, 50 MP camera with 3x telephoto, 4,300 and 4,900 mAh. Both charge at 45 W; the base S26 is up from the S25’s 25 W.
Why people buy it: the S26 is one of the few compact flagships left.
Why we recommend it: the 256 GB S26 has been seen at $799.99 on Amazon. At that price it competes head-on with the S26 FE and wins on chip.
