Reiner Armas

Founder and editor of GamaMóvil

Software engineer. I write phone buying guides by cross-referencing specialist media testing with real market prices.

I built GamaMóvil because buying a phone has become absurdly confusing: every brand ships six models a year with nearly identical names, and spec sheets are written so you can't tell what you're actually comparing. My job here is to turn that into a clear recommendation.

How I work

I'd rather say this plainly, because being transparent about the method is worth more than pretending to run a lab I don't have:

  • I don't test the devices hands-on. I don't receive press units and I don't have access to every model I recommend. If that ever changes, I'll say so in the article itself.
  • I cross-reference the people who do test them. I use lab measurements from specialist outlets (GSMArena, Notebookcheck, DXOMark, Android Authority, Tom's Guide) and look for where they agree or contradict each other. When there's no consensus, I say so.
  • I verify prices before publishing. Figures are checked at the time of writing and marked with ~ when approximate. A six-month-old price is a wrong recommendation.
  • I apply an engineer's judgement, not a salesperson's. My background is technical, so what I add is filtering which specs actually matter for your use case and which are marketing noise.
  • I say who each phone is NOT for. A recommendation without downsides isn't a recommendation, it's an ad.
  • I fix what breaks. Rankings are reviewed every 4-6 weeks and updated articles carry a visible revision date.

How the site is funded

Through Amazon affiliate links: if you buy through them, I earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't shape what I recommend or in what order — not least because a reader who buys the wrong phone doesn't come back, and this project only works if you do. Details in the privacy policy.
